Bishop Bennett
Ordained in 1996 to the priesthood and consecrated in 2002, Bishop Bennett's ministry has been primarily in Tucson and Casa Grande, Arizona, reaching out to groups such as recovering Roman Catholics, the LGBTQIA+ community, individual seekers, and Tucson's arts and other alternative and marginalized communities.
For several years, Bp. Bennett wrote a monthly column in the “Casa Grande Dispatch,” has been published in “Trans-Kin: A Guide for Family and Friends of Transgender People,” and was honored to be asked by the City of Tucson to bless the “rainbow crosswalk” in the city’s 4th Avenue Arts District. Bp. Bennett was born and raised in Arizona, and has had a number of careers, including serving in the U.S. Navy, as a firefighter and emergency medical technician, as a senior executive in a multi-state utility company, as director of a volunteer center, and as volunteer coordinator for Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network. He has also been an active volunteer himself throughout his adult life, including with the LCCI, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, the International Rescue Committee and others.
Bp. Bennett also enjoys hiking, cycling, and performing in local film and theatrical productions.
